Radio messaging for the masses
Meshtastic and Meshcore are trademarks for open-source communication software that uses a radio technology called LoRa to facilitate long-distance communications using low-cost hardware. It’s primary feature that sets it apart is why it has “mesh” in the name. Every radio in the system will act as a repeater to all the other traffic around it. As such, communications can “hop” from node to node until their destination is reached. This is unlike walkie-talkies or two-way radios in that the information doesn’t just end when your’re out of range. Other devices on the network will extend your coverage!
While LoRa existed long before Meshtastic or Meshcore, and radio isn’t anything new, what these platforms bring to the table is a surface for communication that is available to the general public without monthly fees – all supported by a community that is passionate about the technology.

It is a technology that is worldwide and used by hobbyists and professionals but also supported by passionate people everywhere.
